Julie and Julia Movie Report

8th August 2009 by Ed 2 Comments

Yesterday was the first day of the movie release. We were turned away at the 7:05 PM showing (because of a sold out crowd) and at 9:50 PM my son Ben and I got in.

The movie started with a medium classic woodie-type station wagon in the quiet post-war French Countryside announcing the presence of Julia and Paul. Without giving the plot away it was a great blending of two stories. My son said it was a much better movie than he expected.

Julia’s excitement and enthusiasm for life, her husband, and food typified the same person I met many years later when fame, good fortune, and popularity where legendary.

It was early December 1980, Saturday morning at the Stillwater Cove Ranch kitchen when Julia, Paul (he had his camera ready to shoot any unique moments), and Rosie (Julia’s friend and TV show facilitator) arrived at the Ranch Kitchen. As Julia and I prep-ed at the demonstration table in the center of the large old boy’s ranch kitchen, Julia said to me ‘Isn’t this fun? We have all this food and get to cook it all weekend!’ During that moment and all the other moments of that weekend we saw the same Julia as portrayed in the movie save the Santa Barbara’s reporter’s comment at the end.

The Success of “The Amazing Juggler”

17th July 2009 by Ed 1 Comment

As I attempted to learn how to juggle, I found that it wasn’t easy. And for the record I still can’t do more than one jug.

Because juggling interests me, I always appreciate those that can. Here is a guy that takes juggling to the next level.

What’s a penny mean to you?

24th June 2009 by Ed No Comments

We see them all the time on the ground. Do you ever pick them up?
That’s the way it was until I read one of those internet pass around stories. Here’s what I remember about it:

‘There was a very rich man walking with his friend. Then the rich man stopped and picked up a penny lying on the sidewalk. His friend asked, ‘you’re rich why would stop to pick up a penny?’

The rich man answered, ‘You see on the front of this penny above Lincoln’s head are the words In God We Trust. And every time I find a penny I pick it up, look at those words, and ask God ‘Am I trusting You at this very moment?’

From that day on I never pass a found penny without picking it up and asking the same question. Finding a penny now is like a random test of my awareness of God in my life. I hope this thought changes your life as it did mine.

My point of view about a tossed away or lost item of questionable monetary value has been changed by just one short pass around internet story.

If anyone has a copy of this original internet story please post it as a comment to this blog. Hopefully it will have the authors name so I can thank him. edb

PS: Someone asked about the copyright to the last post of Julie and Julia promotional video. According to an internet conference I attended a couple months ago a guy from Youtube.com said if the embed code is available the Youtube video is OK to post. Since this excerpt was an ad for the movie and the more who see it the better.

Here is a video from Youtube about the history of our American penny. Note I’m adding it to make a more interesting post. Warning clicking on other associated videos may eat up your precious time. Think before you click further-I know because it happens to me. So trust the the video shown is the best I could find in the limited time I have allotted to this post.

Upcoming event to jumpstart your dream

23rd April 2009 by Ed No Comments

The fastest way to jump start living the life of your dreams is with an intensive 6 hour session. That’s why in 2003 I created the Finding and Building your Dreams Workshop. I do a private session for groups  and about two times a year, I offer a public session.

Look at upcoming events sidebar for details. Since it is limited to 8, I expect it will fill up fast. The date is Saturday May 9, 2009.

No matter where you are coming from, if you want to create or move-on a dream that is uniquely you and leave with a plan, this is for you.

Included will be three follow up teleconferences each Monday after the event to ensure you are staying on track.   Most of the people laser coached in Santa Clara had no idea what they wanted out of life and in 15 min or less they could see the possibilities of a new life.

Why not treat yourself and join us? It will be fun.

PS This same process works for coaches or business people who want to find and develop a niche.

Report on the Laser Coaching in Santa Clara

22nd April 2009 by Ed No Comments

It was fun and very satisfying that all 14 people over 2 days experienced what coaching was all about. In less that 15 minutes they saw the beginnings of a new future. I hope every one will move forward on living the life of their dreams.

Coaching is people helping people to see what their future can be based on their uniqueness. This was just a sample of  coaching. Some had an opportunity to get coached by more that one coach. This was great because they can choose the one who gave them the most value.

Fortunately all the people I coached have seen their new possibilities but unfortunately most will return to their humdrum lives because they won’t take action.  Sometimes it’s hiring a coach and other times it is doing something to move them in the direction of their new dream. Most people who have used coaches will say theu got there faster with a coach.

For those that want more out of life,  coaching has become popular. The life coach is like a sports coach. They will be there believing and encouraging the person. They stretch them with goals they can handle to get closer and eventually achieve what they are going for.

This is your Blog Post, you can respond by clicking on Comments and add a new comment. Over 100  people attended this 60 minute Brainstorm your Future event. (Scroll down to see comments about the session results.)

This is the place where you can:

  • record comments
  • report your successes and how you got them
  • give the team your progress report on the action steps you completed
  • tell us what you are planning.
  • or ask for more ideas if you are stuck.

3/27/09 Day after the event.

Thank you participants, this was a very stimulating event and I saw great potential in all of you.

In the short feedback session (the one hour time slot) I heard wonderful comments  about self discovery and ideas that could potentially revo;utionize the way people  work. This is my Point of View on the ideas shared:

  • The idea of mobilizing seniors who are out of work to provide targeted solutions to companies on a project basis. The reduces the 40 hour work week to targeted application of their expertise.  The company gets the job done quickly and efficiently and the seasoned expert gets pay and satisfaction.
  • Yes there is a place for art in high tech. Look at the user guides and count how many pages are devoted to repeating the same information in foreign languages. It’s a waste of effort, time, paper, ink, and money when a gifted artist can communicate it without words. Artists give this a try and test it, develop a portfolio, share it, and we’ll see you at the top.  (a Zig quote).
  • Since my background of an early career is food, two people talked to me about specialized cookbooks. Great news with e-marketing you can publish it yourself as a digital product online.  Go to www.clickbank.com and see how others did it. There is no excuse to take ACTION. I have more to say about this in other programs.
  • There were many more great ideas and most of the time the only thing stopping them from being implemented is no action on the part of one who thought it up.
  • For those who need help on their specific projects, I have a next level 6 hour workshop that will grow your identified passion or dream or desire into a plan with action steps. In addition to your specific action plan you will learn:
    1) How to develop a supportive team of diverse people
    2) How to focus your brainstorming into your personal action plan
    3) And more
  • Saturday May 2 if there are 10 or more in the Sunnyvale area, I will find a place nearby. But I need to know by Friday April 3rd at 6 PM l  so I can make the arrangements otherwise it will be in the Felton/Mount Hermon area.
  • The cost is $97 for this session which includes 3 monthly followup group tele-coaching calls one/week.

Do slow drivers drive you _ _ _ _ _

12th March 2009 by Ed 2 Comments

Well they erked me too until one day,  I was following a real slow car and there was no way to pass. Then a passing lane appeared and I  gunned my Honda Civic to pass.  Just before I could get a dirty look together, I saw who they were.

They were two little old people who were forced to be on the road, for whatever reason, and they looked terrified. God Bless them and I hope they got to their destination safe.

That experience changed my point of view forever.  Since that time I pass slow cars when it is safe and legal but it never
drives me _ _ _ _ _.
